Gertrude Hill Taylor

Our precious mother, Gertrude Hill Taylor, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2015.

Born in Wilmington, DE she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Hill, Sr. and Mary Thornton Hill.

She loved playing the piano. She was an accomplished seamstress and talented craftsperson.  Gertrude was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Arthur Charles Taylor who died in 1968; daughter, Patricia Lanspeary; and granddaughter, Karen Toner, who both died in 2015.  She is survived by her daughters, Gertrude Gorman and her husband Joe, Frances Cordrey and her husband Richard, and Barbara Di Mondi and her husband Vincent; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 1 brother and other family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, 801 N. DuPont Blvd. New Castle, where friends may visit from 10 am until 11 am.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE  19808.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Gertrude’s memory be made to the Delaware Association of the Blind, 2915 Newport Gap Pike, Wilmington, DE  19808.
