Gladys Gibson Dick, age 88, of Wilmington, DE and formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2014.

Born in Baltimore, MD on October 20, 1925, Gladys was a daughter of the late Howard Gibson and Frances Daley Gibson. She worked as waitress at the Essex Grill in Wilmington, retiring after many years of dedicated service to her patrons.

Gladys was an active member of the Weston Senior Center. She enjoyed dancing, bingo and playing the slot machines. An avid fan of both the Phillies and the former Baltimore Colts, Gladys loved cheering on her favorite teams each season. She delighted in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gladys will be lovingly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl James Dick, 2 brothers, a sister, 2 sons-in-law, and a grandson, John Dougherty. Gladys is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Jean Farren of Stuart, FL and Maryann Davis of Middletown; son, James E. Dick of New Castle; brother, Arthur Gibson of Dundalk, MD; 6 grandchildren, David Farren (Kathy), Ken Farren (Anna), Dan Farren, Shawn Dougherty (Marion), Joe Dick and Josh Belmont; 6 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday morning, June 25, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
