Grace Lydia Albi - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Grace Lydia Albi

Born August 25, 1932

Grace Lydia (Tarigo) Albi, age 81, of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home on Tuesday, December 17, 2013.

Born in Genoa, Italy on August 25, 1932, she was a beloved daughter of Mabel and Peter Tarigo. She came to this country with her mom and siblings, Aldo and Mary to join her father, Peter and brother, Mario as war was looming in Europe. Her family settled in Manhattan, moved to the Bronx, NY, and later settled in Norwood, New Jersey. For the last six years, she has made her home with husband, Dom, in Middletown, DE.

Grace’s first job out of school was at a New York ad agency, where she met, loved, and married husband, Dom. They settled in New Jersey, where they built a home, had two children and formed their own media production company in New York City. As vice president, Grace’s many talents involved her in all aspects of the business. She continued to play an important role in Dom’s Middletown sign business up to her passing.

Dom credits whatever success he has had in life to Grace’s talents and wonderful personality. She was always up and always smiling. Her laugh was infectious. While friends, family and clients liked me, said Dom, they really loved Grace. They just loved being around her. She had a way of making everyone feel comfortable and happy. It was these very qualities that made her so popular in her Middletown community and in her family. Most important in Grace’s life was her family. She loved and enjoyed being with them, especially her grandchildren. In addition, she loved cooking and putting together parties and family events. Most of all, she loved to tell funny stories of hers and Dom’s zany antics through life and there were many. No one could tell a story like Grace. A sweater and slacks kind of girl she always enjoyed accenting her outfit with pearls. She was a natural beauty so little makeup was needed, but one of her true pleasures in life was having her hair done weekly, no matter what. She will be truly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her loving brother, Mario.
Grace is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Dom; daughter, Carol and her husband Larry; son, Thomas; sister, Mary; brother, Aldo, three grandchildren, Peter, Gabriella and Danielle; a step-grandchild, Elysa; sisters-in-law, Valerie and Betty, as well as a host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with Grace’s family from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, December 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 371 E. Main Street in Middletown, where Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will be held privately in New Jersey.
