H. Joseph D’Aguiar, age 70, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

Born in Georgetown, Guyana on October 27, 1945, Joseph was a son of the late Ernest and Louisa (Fraites) D’Aguiar. He made his career as an auto body technician with Maaco and Northeast Body Shops in Wilmington, retiring after many years of dedicated service.

A talented swimmer and diver, Joseph had a deep appreciation for the ocean and spent many happy hours fishing on the sea wall in Guyana. He was a Judo and karate aficionado, practicing both for a number of years. In his leisure time, Joseph enjoyed watching classic Westerns. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to many.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 44 years, Stella (Ritchie) D’Aguiar; sons, Michael D’Aguiar, Roger D’Aguiar and Swars D’Aguiar all of New Castle, DE; brothers, Ivan D’Aguiar of Sydney, Australia, Irwin D’Aguiar of Riverside, CA and Max D’Aguiar of Wilmington, DE; and grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy and Jewels D’Aguiar.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday morning, May 14, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
