Harold E. Vincent, age 83, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014.

Born in Christiana, Delaware on June 10, 1931, Harold was a son of the late Homer Vincent and Mary (Rutter) Vincent. A veteran of the Korean War, Harold served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wasp. Upon discharge, he became an electrician for Moore Brothers and would later accept a position as a Contract Administrator with the DuPont Company, retiring in 1996 after 25 years of dedicated service.

Harold was a longtime member of the Christiana Fire Department. He also served as the family “handyman” helping his sons with many home improvement projects. He loved vacationing with his family in Wildwood and Myrtle Beach, swimming with his boys in the ocean and his seafood meals. An avid Phillies fan, he enjoyed sports and watching his grandchildren, nieces and nephews play baseball, soccer and basketball. Harold and Carolyn were also known to frequent Atlantic City and Lancaster throughout the years. In his leisure time, Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing and his favorite, gardening. He prized his tomato and zucchini crop each year.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert. Harold is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn Elizabeth (Falls) Vincent; sons, John Regan (Vanessa) of Warrington PA and Michael Vincent (Claire) of Wilmington; brother, Donald Vincent (Audrey); 3 grandchildren, Sarah, Kevin and Jack Regan; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm on Wednesday afternoon, November 12, 2014 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A committal service will follow at 2 pm at The Chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
