Harry Bing Chin - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Harry Bing Chin

May 5, 1913 - October 4, 2015

Harry Bing Chin, of Newark, DE, in the loving embrace of Jesus, joined his beloved wife, Lillian, daughter, Louise, and son, Harry Jr. on Sunday, October 4, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Kam Mei Moy and Poy Chin, his sisters, Rose (Ted Eng) and Mary (Jack Moy), his brother Henry and sister-in-law, Susie Chin.

Harry will be deeply missed by his brother, George, brother-in-law, Harry (Linda) Leung, sister-in-law, Margaret (Jan) Louie, daughter-in-law, Susan (Harry), daughter, Fay (Kevin) Connors, grandchildren, Drew Marmo, Dana Roark, Melissa (Steve) Chin, Nicholas (Ivy) Tseng, Harry (Bernedette) Tseng, Karleia (Ross) Connors, Neeka (Brandon) Barnes, Kevin Connors, Jr., Christopher Connors and great grandchildren, Nick Loder, Cory Devonshire, Caterina Devonshire, Hunter Roark, Ethan Tseng, Charlette Tseng, Nolan Barnes and many loving nieces and nephews.

Harry met Lillian on the rooftop of her apartment building in Chinatown. NY (shades of West Side Story.) They were married in 1939 and celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary last December. The longest they were ever apart was from the time of Lillian’s passing in June, 2015 to the day that Harry joined her this past Sunday.

Living the American dream, they moved to Wilmington, DE in 1954 and opened a Chinese Laundry at 4th & Union Streets. Later they opened a second location on Kirkwood Highway.

In 1975, they retired to Octoraro Lakes, MD. Later, in 1999, they returned to Newark, DE.
Harry didn’t say much. He let his life of integrity, honesty, hard work and love of family speak for itself and was truly a gentle man.

A memorial service to honor the lives of Harry and Lillian will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday morning, October 10, 2015 in the chapel of All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity or consider making a donation to one of Harry and Lillian’s favorite charities which included the local police and fire departments, as well as the armed forces.
