Harry Ronald Sturgeon
Mr. Harry Ronald Sturgeon, age 64, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011, at his home.
A native Delawarean, Mr. Sturgeon was born in Wilmington on February 18, 1947, son of the late James Sturgeon and Emma Miller Sturgeon. He proudly served his country for four years in the US Navy and, in civilian life, would go on to make his career as a professional electrician with the former Occidental Chemical.
Very active in his community, he was a member of many organizations, including the Lions Club, the American Legion, St. Johns Lodge #2 AF & AM, the Delaware City Recreation Club, and the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge. In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed playing golf, taking trips to the beach, and boating. Most of all, he delighted in spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandsons, whom he adored.
Family and friends will long remember Mr. Sturgeon for his generous, compassionate nature and his cheerful willingness to help anyone in need at any time.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Norma L. Walker Sturgeon; children, Stacy Sturgeon and Chad Sturgeon; grandsons, Tyler and Kyle; siblings, Billie Sturgeon, Stephen Sturgeon, Camilla Craig, Bruce Sturgeon, James Sturgeon, and Connie Sturgeon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Sandra DAndrea, Richard Sturgeon, and Emma Pottios.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 5th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Georges Cemetery, Kirkwood-St. Georges Road.
