Helen Brown Hall

On Thursday, August 22, 2013, Rosa Helen Brown Hall, age 92, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home.

Helen was born in Pagepon, WV on March 9, 1921. As a young woman, she moved to Pulaski, VA, where she met her husband, Donald. During that time, Helen worked at the Pulaski Silk Mill; she often spoke about the beautiful colors of thread manufactured there. During World War II, she worked at the Hercules Powder Plant in Pulaski. After the war, Helen and Donald moved to New Castle, DE, where they raised seven children. She was a talented homemaker and also worked as an aide in the Colonial School District before her retirement.
Helen was a longtime member of the Howard Weston Senior Center, where she enjoyed many activities and had wonderful friends. She was a devoted wife and a loving and caring mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family.
Helen was the daughter of the late Sophia Laura Ann Brown and John Andrew Turner. Her beloved husband, Donald E. Hall, Sr., passed away in 1985. She was also preceded in death by three infant daughters, Donna Gail, Linda Darlene, and Maryann Christine Hall; five brothers, Herman, Cecil, Glenn, Clyde, and Paris; and a sister, Loretta. She is survived by her children, Donald E. Hall, Jr. (Maryjean) of Middletown, Judith Hall of Bear, Michael Hall (Darlene) of New Castle, James Hall (Marianne) of New Castle, Pamela Walker of Lewes, Clifford Hall (Karen) of Bear, and Patricia Gouge of New Castle; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, August 27th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
