Helen C. Burnham
Mrs. Helen C. Burnham, known fondly as Toots, age 98, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Burnham was born in Newark on March 1, 1913, daughter of the late George A. Moore and Ella C. Keeley Moore. She was a talented homemaker and devoted her life to caring for her beloved family.
Active in her community, Mrs. Burnham was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of J. Allison ODaniel VFW Post 475. She was well known by all for her compassionate nature, and she touched many lives with her unfailing thoughtfulness, kind manner, and gentle strength. Admired also for her grace and poise, she greatly enjoyed all types of dancing throughout her life.
Mrs. Burnham was dearly loved by her family and her many friends and will be sadly missed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wentworth B. Winnie Burnham, son John Hrycek, four brothers, and five sisters. She is survived by her children, Winifred Bakaysa, William Burnham, Cecilia Viering (Lawrence), and James Burnham (Rebecca); six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 10, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Head of Christiana Cemetery, Nottingham Road, Newark.
