Mrs. Helen Davis, age 99, of Newark, DE, formerly of Garfield, NJ, died on Friday, October 22, 2010, at Newark Manor, her residence for the past several years.
Born in Passaic, NJ, on December 11, 1910, Helen was the daughter of the late Joseph Barcsczewski and Francese Fielaka Barcsczewski. She was employed with Westin Biscuit in Clifton, NJ, for 25 years until her retirement. A devout Christian, Helen loved her God and her church, Ss. Peter and Paul Polish National Catholic Church in Passaic, where she was a longtime member of the Senior Club.
Active in her community, Helen was a member of the Garfield Seniors Club, Golden Ages, and the AARP. She also enjoyed bingo, dancing, eating out, and taking trips to Atlantic City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Davis, a daughter, Anna Kowal, and brother, Charles Barris. She is survived by her daughters who love her and will deeply miss her, Rosemarie Sander and husband, William, of Newark, DE, and Joan Pranio of Barnegat, NJ; son-in-law, John Kowal of FL; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Newark Manor for all the care, love, and support given to Helen during her residence. Thanks also to the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for their support during her last few weeks.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 pm on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Ss. Peter and Paul Polish National Catholic Church, 126 River Drive, Passaic, NJ 07055. Interment will follow in East Ridgelawn Cemetery.
