  • Dear Mommom,
Spending time with you was always like opening the pages of a storybook. You and Poppop had so many amazing experiences together. What I enjoyed the most was listening to you share those memories with us. They became funnier and more tender as time went on. From stories of time spent in Puerto Rico, dances with the soldiers, and more importantly dances with Henry, I was captivated by your love of life and all its joys. You told me of my mother’s and aunt’s missteps but also their successes. You taught me to protect my children fiercely but encourage them to experience all life’s lessons. You told me to hold myself accountable for my education but to also to give back to people who had less than me. Most of all, thank you for raising two strong independent women. I have been blessed with generations of strong women including Nanny, you, mom, and Patti.
With all my love and gratitude, Shelley
