Henry V. Tobin, Jr., age 86, of New Castle, DE, fondly known as Pop Pop, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2015.

A native Delawaren, Henry was born in New Castle on December 18, 1928, and was the son of the late Henry V. Tobin, Sr. and Vera (Toppin) Tobin. He made his career as a chemical operator at ICI Americas, retiring after 36 years of dedicated service at the company’s Cherry Point plant. After retiring, he worked as a driver for United Electric for 10 years.

A devout Catholic, Henry was a longtime and active parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Archbishop Fitz Maurice Assembly 148 and St. Michael Council 4548. An avid bowler, Henry was president of the Knights of Columbus Bowling League and a member of the ICI Industrial League. He was inducted into the American Bowling Hall of Fame and enjoyed over 60 years participating in the sport he loved. In his leisure time, Henry looked forward to travelling with family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather who adored spending time with his loved ones and will be very dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah T. (Cohill) Tobin in 2001. He is survived by his children, Sally Ann Tobin-Hadley (Thomas) of New Castle, Henry V. Hank Tobin III (Peggy) of Dagsboro and Mark D. Tobin (Erin) of Newark; sister, Florence Gilkey of NY; grandchildren, Kyle, Brian, Danielle, Nicole, Shannon and Kevin Tobin; and 4 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Wednesday morning, July 15, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 500 Greenbank Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808.
