Herbert Wesley Drummond, Sr.

January 19, 1943 – October 21, 2016

Herbert Wesley Drummond, Sr., age 73, of Bear, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Wes was a truck driver for Miller Brothers Furniture for 45 years and a member of Moose Lodge 1578. He loved to play and watch sports, shoot pool, and most of all loved to fish. There are many cherished memories of times spent on his boat with friends and grandsons.

Born in Wilmington, DE, he was a son of the late Clarence Drummond, Sr. and Margaret (Williams) Drummond. In addition to his parents, Wes was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Powell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jeanne, and his sons, Jay Drummond (Denise) of Smyrna, DE and Chris Drummond (Kelly) of Bear, DE. He also leaves behind three grandchildren whom he greatly adored, Logan (Chrissy), Madison, and Mason.

He will be dearly missed by his brother, Clarence Drummond, Jr. (Helen) of Bear, DE; sisters, June McNatt (Louis) of Wilmington, DE and Janice Lewis of Dover, DE.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am to 11 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be held in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations to Compassionate Care 405 E. Marsh Lane Suite 4 Newport, DE 19804.

    I will miss seeing Wes out in the yard! You have been such wonderful neighbors to me and my parents before me. (Earl and Vivian Stoddard) I am saddened by your loss.   • Jeannie and Boys, we are so sorry to hear about the passing of Wes. I remember the fun times we all had playing cards, shrimp feasts, and beef and beers we all attended at the Christiana Fire House. Where has the time gone. I especially remember the trip to the Poconos where Sam put your boots on and tried skiing. You have lots of fun memories of Wes I am sure as we all do he, will surely be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know and love him. Sorry we will not be able to be with you on Wednesday, but, know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and the boys. May he rest in peace.
