Mrs. Hilda Jane (Smith) Webb, age 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 11, 2018.

Hilda was born in Ambler, PA on August 1, 1934 to the late Hilda A. (Hoffman) Smith and Samuel H. Smith. Following her marriage to H. Jay Webb she moved to Wilmington, DE in 1959.

Hilda enjoyed reading, traveling, baking and spending time with her family and many friends. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Hilda served as Past Worthy Matron and Chapter Treasurer of Caesar Rodney Chapter No. 8, Order of Eastern Star, New Castle, DE and a was a fifty-year member of the Brandywine Region Antique Automobile Club of America.

In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, H. Jay Webb, who passed away in 2000 and her brother-in-law, Howard J. Webb.

She is survived by her sons, Keith J. Webb (Lauren Hambrook) and Kevin J. Webb (Carleen); grandchildren, Kyle J. Webb (Brittany Durm) and Kayden L. Webb; great-grandchildren Thomas J. Webb and Samuel H. Webb, all of Newark; sister-in-law, Susan Ferrell of Virginia Beach, VA; nephew J. Wayne Lewis, Jr. (Irma) of Wilmington; cousin Elizabeth Ann Patton of Wilmington; and her best friend of 55 years, Irene DuBreuil of Wilmington.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A second visitation will held the following morning at the funeral home from 10 am until 11 am. Services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Hilda’s memory may be made to the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge, 110 W. Laurel Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19012.

  • Just have to say what a great time I had getting to spend even just a little time getting to know her, so glad for that. My favorite favorite thing of all was to see her and Irene together…making me smile just to remember it now. The fullest lives are shared with great friends like that.
