Irene J. Woodrow, age 77, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

Irene was born in Queens, NY on November 27, 1937, and was a daughter of the late Francis Pescatore and Mary (Biliski) Pescatore. A talented go-getter, she owned and operated both a housekeeping and cake design business for a number of years.

Irene enjoyed flower gardening, loved orchids and was a gifted baker who delighted in creating beautiful homemade cakes for weddings and friends. In her leisure time, she enjoyed camping, visiting the beach and crocheting. Irene was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother who adored spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Susanne and Frances and a grandson, Michael Leger. Irene is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Richard F. Woodrow; children, John N. Edgerton of Bear, Clifton W. Edgerton of Mexico, ME and Angela M. Simpers (Mugs) of Newark; brother, John Calvin Gildersleeve of New Castle; sisters, Rose Rivers of Lyons, GA and Lela Gildersleeve of New Castle; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
