Jack Walker

Jack Walker, age 61, of Newark, DE died on Friday, November 15, 2013.
Jack was born on March 13, 1952, in Somerville, New Jersey, but grew up in New Castle, DE, where his family moved when he was a small boy. He graduated from DeLaWarr High School in 1970, and then attended the University of Delaware. Though disabled most of his life, Jack was an intelligent man with a sharp wit. He could talk your ear off, but had a serious, thoughtful, quiet compassion that was not always recognized by others. In the past, Jack had volunteered for the Salvation Army’s Christmas kettle drive, and worked in the greenhouse at the Delaware State Hospital.
He had a strong faith in God. Jack was fully engaged in life, and had great interest in current events, politics, and ecology. An avid film buff throughout his life, he had been a theater usher during his teen years and loved discussing movie plots at great length. He listened to music constantly, and in his youth had played trombone in his high school band. Mechanically gifted, he enjoyed tinkering with his car, and was especially fond of his Fairlane.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Jack E. and Jessie R. Walker and brother-in-law, Clinton Archer. He will be sadly missed by his twin brother, Jerry Walker; sisters, Janet Archer and Jill Williams and husband Brad; and his only nephew, Marshall Williams.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where friends may call from 1 pm until 1:30 pm.  Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
