Jacqueline A. Montgomery, age 79, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home, while surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.

A native Delawarean, Jacqueline was born in Wilmington on November 16, 1936, and was the daughter of the late George A. Leon, Sr. and Catharine Leon. She was a talented homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her loved ones.

Jacqueline adored her children and grandchildren, who were her world. She looked forward to family camping trips and holiday gatherings. In her leisure time, Jacqueline liked attending bingo and relished taking day trips with her husband, Tom. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary-Kay Jones and son, Thomas Montgomery, Jr. Jacqueline is survived by her husband of 62 years, Thomas J. Montgomery; daughter, Susan Messick (Kevin) of Hockessin, DE; brothers, George A. Leon (Gloria) of Newark, DE and William Leon of New Castle, DE; sister, Catharine Lloyd of New Castle, DE; 6 grandchildren, 2 of whom lived with Jacqueline; and 7 great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday afternoon, October 21, 2016 in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE where a funeral service will be held at at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice of Delaware, 220 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713 or to Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Hwy., New Castle, DE 19720 .
