James Alexander Draper
Mr. James Alexander Draper, age 78, of New Castle, DE, succumbed to the ravages of Parkinsons Disease and went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2012.
Jim was a 1952 graduate of Newark High School, where he served as class president. He later attended Temple University and received flight training at Willow Grove Naval Air Station.
Jim enjoyed sports of all kinds throughout his life, especially golf (providing Phil Mickelson was winning!). Active in his community, he was a member and past president of the Brookside Lions Club and was a recipient of the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was also a dedicated member of the Community Fellowship Church and loved spending time with his church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton L. and Mabelle Draper, and his sister, Dorothy. Left to cherish his memory is his wife and caregiver, Mary E. Draper, with whom he shared 17 years of happiness. He is also survived by his brother, Milton Draper (Donna); daughter, Victoria Draper Carter (Tom); son, Christopher Draper (Karen); stepdaughter, Elizabeth Singleton (Paul); stepson, John F. Evans II; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a niece and four nephews; and his dutiful and caring friends, Dave Klein and June Harkness.
A memorial service at Community Fellowship Church is being planned for a later date.
