James Dale Richmond
Mr. James Dale Richmond, age 60, of New Castle, DE, died on Monday, January 31, 2011, at Christiana Hospital.
Mr. Richmond was born in Minden, WV, on December 22, 1950, son of the late Pauline and Elmer Lawhorn. As a young man, he proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. A truck driver by profession, he was currently employed with Castle Transportation in Pennsylvania.
Well known as a hard worker with a strong work ethic, Mr. Richmond will also be remembered for his excellent sense of humor and the amusing way he would often gently tease family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Buchanan, his father-in-law, Joseph Saragino, his mother-in-law, Shirley Saragino, and his brother-in-law, Anthony Boomer Saragino, who was like a brother to him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, JoAnn (Saragino) Richmond; daughters, Jody Richmond and her boyfriend Shawn Windsor, and Jamie Richmond and her fianc Thomas Mathena; granddaughters, Kristen, Angel, Aliyah, and Gianna; niece, Crystal Walkup; aunt, Alice Baker; uncle, Gene Richmond and his wife Kathy; brother-in-law, Ray Buchanan; brothers-in-law, Joseph Saragino and Ralph Saragino, who were more like his brothers; and his pet Chihuahua, Midget, whom he liked to call Poo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, February 22nd, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
The family requests that guests dress in casual attire for the service.
