James H. Sapp

Born April 30, 1945

James H. Sapp, age 72, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2017.

A lifelong Delawarean, Jim was born in New Castle on April 30, 1945, and was the son of the late Robert H. and Helen P. (Dennie) Sapp. He made his career with Greggo and Ferrara, where he worked as a truck driver, retiring after many years of dedicated service.

Tender-hearted and kind, Jim adored animals. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing. Jim loved nothing more than spoiling his wife and best friend, Nancy and especially looked forward to their infamous joy rides together. He will be dearly missed by a multitude of friends who will remember his cheerful demeanor and quick wit.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest Sapp and Bill Dennie; and his sister, Gertrude Sapp Springer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy E. (Booker) Sapp; brother, Leroy Davis (Karen); niece, Gertrude Tootie Springer (Sandi); and nephew, William Springer (Liz).

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon on Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Delaware Chapter, 100 W. 10th Street, Ste 209, Wilmington, DE 19801 or to Faithful Friends, 12 Germany Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804.
