Mr. James Henry, age 84, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Christiana Hospital.
Mr. Henry was a native Delawarean, born in Wilmington on June 17, 1926. A highly respected local business leader for many years, he began a small towing company in 1953 with his business partner, Harold West. Because of their outstanding reputation for superior customer service, that business expanded rapidly over the years and together they founded Jim and Harolds Garage at 600 N. DuPont Parkway in New Castle.
Well known and admired for his excellent and uncompromising work ethic, Mr. Henry was a tireless business owner, working 7 days a week for 50 years. He will be sadly and deeply missed by his beloved family and his many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Margaret Watson Henry, in 2003. He is survived by his children, James W. Henry (Wanda), Ronald L. Henry, and Diane DHeron (Frank); grandchildren, Patricia, Jennifer, Kimberly, Lena, Jason, and Nicholas; and great grandchildren, Jordan, Hailey, Sophia, Abigail, Adryan, Annabelle, and Wyeth.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, March 9th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, March 10th, at the funeral home, where a second visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Glebe Cemetery in New Castle.
