James P. Clark - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

James P. Clark

Born July 27, 1949

James P. Clark, age 67, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2017.

Born on July 27, 1949, Jim was the son of the late Walter and Catherine (Lavin) Clark.  He was raised in Atlantic City, NJ and was a graduate of Holy Spirit High School.  Jim proudly served his country as a member of the Air National Guard for 6 years in Atlantic City.  He worked in the retail industry for many years, and most recently served as general manager of the Sears Hardware store in Newark, DE.

An Irishman at heart, Jim’s favorite holiday was St. Patty’s Day and he loved carrying on his yearly tradition of dressing up in his green suit and perfoming the Unicorn Song for his friends.  He was a longtime member of the New Castle Moose Lodge, VFW, American Legion and the Elks.  Above all else, Jim was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and he will be very dearly missed.

  • I loved Poppop so much. I planted flowers with Poppop. Someday I will see him in Heaven. Poppop was really awesome. Love you, Zoey

  • I will always remember Jim as a Father figure, a proud Poppop, a man who worked hard in retail as a manager, and someone who loved to give advice and enjoyed helping others. Throughout the years, I enjoyed listening to his childhood stories about growing up in Atlantic City, shining shoes as a young boy, enjoying the boardwalk, ocean, and beach. He was taken too soon but from the stories he told me about his life, he definitely lived a full life and enjoyed every bit of it. We loved Jim and will really miss his presence but know that he is watching over us. Rest in Peace. Love, Jessica

  • To Jim’s Loving FAmily,
I grew up with Jim in Atlantic City and went to Our Lady Star of the Sea and Holy Spirit High School with him. I was saddened to learn of his passing but have fond childhood and adolescent memories of both Jim and his brother Walt. From what I read in his Guestbook he was obviously a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, friend and co-worker with all the qualities I recall him having. May your family find comfort in your happy memories and know that his spirit will live within each of you in a very special way.

  • PS: Love the picture, a true Irishman. I’ll hoist a pint and enjoy a Jamison on St. Patrick’s Day in his memory.
