James P. Finochi, Sr.

Born October 17, 1946

Mr. James P. Finochi, Sr., age 70, of Sebastian, FL, and formerly of Newark, DE, died August 5, 2017 at Sebastian River Medical Center.

Jim was born in Wilmington, DE on October 17, 1946, and was a son of the late Dominic and Philomena (Lorenzo) Finochi.

He worked as an electrician with Globe Electric for 26 years, and would later accept a position as a project manager for MBNA before retiring.

He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian, FL and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Bear. Jim was also a member of the Sebastian Lions Club and the Sebastian Chamber of Commerce. He was a volunteer for Special Olympics and initiated a Poker Run to benefit that organization. Jim also volunteered his time at St. Anthony in the Hills and the Benedictine School and served as an umpire for Canal Little League. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing at Primehook Beach and was a passionate NASCAR fan. A devoted grandfather, Jim adored all of his grandchildren, especially Nikki, who he helped raise.

Survivors include his wife of 49 1/2 years, Judith Finochi; daughter, Paula Finochi (Dwayne) of North East, MD; son, James Finochi, Jr. of Newark, DE; grandchildren Dominique, Casey, Victoria, Jared and Andrew; sister, Ann Vignola (John) of Kennett Square, PA; sister-in-law, Sheila Finochi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Finochi.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Wednesday morning, August 16, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 345 Bear Christiana Rd, Bear, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
