Janice Ann (Bender) Whitby, age 61, of Laurel, DE, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware on June 17, 1953, Janice was the daughter of the late James Bender and Dorothy Bailey Bender. She devoted her life to caring for her beloved family and was an exceptional homemaker and mother.
In her leisure time, Janice enjoyed playing bingo and visiting local yard sales. She was an avid animal lover and adored her faithful canine companion, Taz. Above all else, Janice cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Whitby, Sr. Janice is survived by her children, John W. Whitby, Jr., Mike Whitby, Wayne Whitby (Annette) and Jim Whitby (Jessica); sister-in-law, Sharon Halter; 16 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
