Janice W. Hardy
Born August 21, 1953
Janice W. Hardy, age 61, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2015.
A lifelong Delawarean, Janice was born in Wilmington on August 21, 1953, and was a daughter of the late Warren Short and Virginia Butler Short. She made her career as a personal nannie and was known everywhere and by many as the nannie. Janice’s deep love for children and her gentle and nurturing personality made her chosen profession a perfect match. She adored the many children she cared for over the years.
Janice was an exceptional hostess who loved entertaining and organizing family gatherings. She spoiled her family and friends with her delicious cooking and baking. Janice was active in her community and was a member of the Holloway Terrace Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. An avid animal lover, she held a soft place in her heart for creatures of all kinds. In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling with her friends, especially to Disney World and to the beach where she loved watching her husband fish. Janice liked shopping, especially for her beloved grandchildren who were the apples of her eye. A devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Janice is survived by her husband of 43 years, Charles Grant Hardy; children, Brian Hardy (Amy), Stacy Maiden (Chuck) and Jeffery Hardy (Casey); sister, Wilma Smith; and 3 grandchildren, Ryan, Emma and Abigail Hardy.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday morning, January 31, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am. Interment will be held privately.

You can’t even imagine the fun we all had over the years with Janice and all of our family and friends, with the entire Hardy Family. The National Guard wives were the best to put up with our seriousness, nonsense and time away from home, Janice was no exception!. What a great lady, wife, mother and grandmother! May She Rest In Peace ! She surely has left a true legacy behind!

Separated but Together
Here I stand
physically separated from you
but together always
the joy you brought
your laughter makes my heart sing
being with you
made time stand still
at least in my dreams
or everlasting memories
of once was
and no longer to be created
how you tacitly taught me
what I’m still mastering
that proximity is meaningless
when you love another
as when you close your eyes
we are always together
my empathy
Have no bounds
and empowers me
so I know
deep in my heart and soul
that when we are not together
I will not despair
but rather dig
deep in the beginning
shallower with time
of our connection
with everything
but especially with you
is just a breath away
