Janis A. Huggler

December 20, 1922 – June 18, 2014

Janis A. Huggler, age 91, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, June 18, 2014.

Born in Springfield, MA on December 20, 1922, Mrs. Huggler was a daughter of the late Stafford Lake and Florence Bixby Lake. She worked as a secretary for the Delaware Nurses Association and retired after many years of dedicated service.

Mrs. Huggler was a longtime member of the Delaware Saengerbund Library Association, the Newark Senior Center and the Hope Lutheran Church. In her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting, crewel stitchery, reading and playing bridge. A devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Mrs. Huggler will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Theodore E. Huggler; children, Gary Huggler of Newark and Cheryl Cox (Jerry) of Newark; brother, Donald Lake of Litchfield, CT; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Huggler’s name may be made to the Hope Lutheran Church L.I.F.E. Food Pantry, 230 Christiana Road, New Castle, DE 19720.
