Jerry C. Lofland
Mr. Jerry C. Lofland, age 69, of Bear, DE, and Hollywood Beach, FL, died on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD.
Born in Denton, TX, on July 13, 1940, Mr. Lofland was the son of the late William I. Lofland and Mary Beyette Lofland. He was a graduate of Southern Methodist University (SMU) and made his career with the DuPont Company as a mechanical and environmental engineer and, later, as a senior manager.
Interested in sports from his youth, Mr. Lofland was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. He greatly enjoyed playing golf with friends and was a longtime member of the Cavalier Country Club. He was also an expert horse racing handicapper.
Mr. Lofland was active in the Masonic order for many years and had achieved Thirty-Second Degree status. Most of all, he will be fondly remembered as a devoted family man, delighting above all else in time with spent with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jacqueline E. Nye; children, Jennifer Meredith of Connecticut; Alexander Lofland of Connecticut; Jill Sowry of Newark, DE; Shannon Sowry of Pensacola, FL; and Elizabeth Nye of New Castle, DE; sister, Linda Ebert of Dallas, TX; and grandchildren, Katherine and Christopher Meredith, Nicholle Nye, and Kayla Cathell.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, where visitation will begin at 12 Noon.
