Jimmy Lee Kay

Born March 12, 1960

Jimmy Lee Kay, age 54, of Lincoln University, PA, passed away unexpectedly at home on the evening of Tuesday, November 11, 2014.

Born on March 12, 1960, Jimmy was the only child of Lloyd and Mary Kay. Jim was born in Ness City, KS and raised in Mt. Olive, MS. He was always very proud of his southern roots and of his position on the varsity football team for Mt. Olive High School. At the time of his passing Jim was living with long-time partner, Collette Woodworth and working as a maintenance manager at Miller Edge, Inc.

He was incredibly charismatic and good-natured, and had many friends. Jim always had a smile, an encouraging word, and a sharp sense of humor. Having a talented hand, he could fix most anything, and also liked a good building project. His three dogs, Ginger, Cody, and Maddie were a constant source of pride and joy for him and he loved them dearly.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd. He is survived by his mother, Mary Kay of Mt. Olive, MS; his daughter Erin M. Macolley and husband, Jeff, of Bear, DE, and their children Michael and Conner; and son James B. Kay and wife, Terra, of Mt. Olive, MS, and their children Danny and David.

Always wanting to return home, Jim will be laid to rest privately at Rock Hill Cemetery in Mt. Olive, MS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713.

  • A wonderful man who will be greatly missed.
A man whose love for all things out doors was only surpassed by his love of football. Fiercely protective of those he loved and always smiling, he always faced a challenge head on. My prayers are with the family.

  • Love and prayers for all of you.

  • A great guy and co-worker. His personality and humor will be sorely missed.
My prayers are with his family.

  • Jimmy will be missed by all who knew him. He was the kindest person that you could ever meet. Jim was always upbeat and willing to help anyone, any way he could. I did not know his family, but I do know he loved Collette, very much, and of course, his doggies. I’ll never forget his greeting towards me;…….Hello my Brother!!! I’ll never forget him.

  • A friend not forgotten from our days in Delaware…rest in piece Brother…and prayers to his family members…

  • Jimmy was a big man with a big heart. He enjoyed so many things and tried them all at some point in his life… from fishing, hunting, and boating as a young man to country dancing, hiking, and even the gas man for car racing in mid life. He could build and fix anything and often did. Glad that he will be laid to rest in Mount Olive. May his family keep his spirit forever.

  • He was great co-worker. Always ready to help.
My prayers are with his family.
