Joanne B. Bolton

Joanne B. Bolton, age 80, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2014.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware on April 23, 1933, Joanne was a daughter of the late Edwin Bane and May Waity Bane. She was a devoted homemaker and mother to her family.

Active in her community, Joanne was a former president of the New Century Club of Newark from 1988 until 1992 and a member and former New Castle County Vice President of the Delaware State Federated Women’s Club from 2002 until 2004. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Newark, where she served as the kitchen head. Joanne volunteered her time and talents with the Blood Bank of Delaware and also with her church’s mental health clinic. She adored both traveling the world and attending University of Delaware football games with her husband. In her leisure time, Joanne enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, golf, needlework and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virginius D. Bolton, who passed away in 2012. Joanne is survived by her children, Marion B. Woodruff of Newark, DE, Andrea J. Franks (Richard) of West Grove, PA and Virginius Robert Bolton (Marigrace) of Port Deposit, MD; sister, Janet Sitar (Frank) of Belvedere, SC; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday afternoon, April 3, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where family and friends may visit from 12 Noon until 1 pm. Entombment will be held privately in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
