Joanne P. (Baker) Lutz, age 66, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 19, 2014.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on June 28, 1948, Joanne was a daughter of the late Joseph B. Baker Sr. and Ann I. (McMonagle) Baker. She made her career as an office manager with Nu-Car, retiring after 39 years of dedicated service.

Joanne was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a woman of strong Catholic faith. She was a constant help to others and went out of her way to care for anyone in need. A loving and devoted mother, sister and grandmother, Joanne adored spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph B. Baker, Jr. Joanne is survived by her daughters, Jan P. Wooters of Prospect Park, PA and Jeannie Davis and husband, Mark of Bear; sister, Kathleen Hansen of Milford; brother, Andrew Baker of New Castle; and 4 granddaughters, Megan Gatelein, Elizabeth and Erin Wooters, and Laura Davis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Monday morning, November 24, 2014 at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in New Saint Mary’s Cemetery, 515 W. Browning Road, Bellmawr, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Second Floor, Newark, DE 19711.

  • Janney I am truly sorry for your loss of your Mother. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family

  • We are truly sorry for your mothers passing, she was a good friend, and we will miss her.
    Sorry that we cannot attend her burial, but my wife Lucille has been ill with weak nerve endings in her spin
    and her Doctors appoint is at 11:00 on Monday.
