John B. Midash

Born June 9, 1923

John B. Midash, age 93, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home, while surrounded by his family, on Friday, December 9, 2016.

John was born in McAdoo, PA on June 9, 1923 and was the son of the late John A. and Elizabeth Midash. He was a proud veteran of WWII, serving as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He later obtained his private pilot license and loved to tell stories about flying above his hometown. John made his career as a quality control inspector for Boeing Vertol in Morton, PA, retiring after many years of dedicated employment.

He was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family R.C. Church in Newark and a member of the Burtonwood Club. In his leisure time, John enjoyed completing woodworking projects. He will long be remembered for his gentle and good-hearted nature and strong work ethic. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and great grandfather, he will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Randy; granddaughter, Melissa; and daughter-in-law, Debbie. John is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary A. (Matuskevich) Midash; sons, John (Sandy), Larry (Millie) and David (Lois); grandsons, Larry (Kristie), John (Heather) and David; great grandchildren, Brandon and Delaney; sister, Elizabeth McDonald; brother, Joseph (Dorothy); and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the Seasons Hospice 6D care team at Christiana Hospital and a special thank you to Virginia (Ginny), Bret and Katie from Seasons Home Hospice Care.

Services and interment in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice of Delaware, 220 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713.
