John Baptist Hauck

Born December 10, 1933

John Baptist Hauck, age 83, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.

John was born in Ebelsbach, Germany on December 10, 1933, and was the son of the late Baptist and Anna Hauck. After moving to the United States in 1952, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1958. A master machinist, John worked for DuPont Chambers Works, retiring in 1990 after 28 years of dedicated employment.

He was proud of his German heritage and was a lifetime member of the Delaware Saengerbund in Newark. In his leisure time, John enjoyed gardening, traveling, walking, biking, hunting and fishing. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and dear friend to many and will be lovingly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Irmgard Stöcklein. John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lore Hauck; children, Marianne Dryden (James) and Robert Hauck (Victoria); and grandchildren, Derek, Erica, Christopher, and Stephanie.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm on Friday, May 12, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear, DE 19701, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 pm. Interment will be held at a later date in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, at the address listed above.
