John C. Hawk, Sr.

Mr. John C. Hawk, Sr., age 90, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Hawk was born in Shamokin, PA, on November 26, 1922, son of the late Minnie and Thomas Hawk. A veteran of the US Air Force, he proudly served his country during World War II. In civilian life, he made his career with the DuPont Company, retiring from the Newport plant as a pigmentation technician in 1984.
Active in his community, Mr. Hawk was a former member of New Castle Moose Lodge 1578 and the Wilmington Manor Lions Club. Favorite hobbies included reading, cross-stitching, and fishing.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Phyllis Lewis Hawk; children, Jean M. Laird (James) of Clayton, John C. Hawk, Jr. of Cheswold, Steven Keeley of Claymont, Lois O’Donnell (Vincent) of Claymont, and Linda Keeley of Lancaster, PA; ten grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Keeley.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 29th, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
