John D. Curlett, age 45, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017.

Born in Wilmington on December 7, 1971, he was a son of the late Donald Curlett and the late Adele (Pace) Alfree. John made his career as an ironworker with Ironworkers Local #451, Wilmington. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed surf fishing and duck hunting.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Donnie and Randy Curlett. He is survived by his daughter, Brittany R. Ziolkowski of Smyrna; fiancée, Janny Russell of Smyrna; brothers, Weston Curlett, Duane Curlett (Mary) both of Smyrna, and Mark Curlett of Elkton, MD; step brother, William Alfree of Dover; grandson, Brantley Ziolkowski; step mother, Mary Curlett of Chesapeake City, MD; step father, William Alfree, Sr. of Clayton; and a gaggle of nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, from 10:00 until 11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delmarva Teen Challenge, 611 3rd Street, Seaford, DE 19973.
