John H. âJackâ Wilding
John H. Jack Wilding, age 85, of New Castle, DE, died on August 13, 2010, surrounded by his family.
Jack was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Laura Hastings and Charles Frederick Wilding. He served in World War II. Jack began his career in the U.S.A.F retiring as a Major after 22 years. He worked as a navigator at Capital Airways for eight years. Jack then became a Magistrate for the State of Delaware. He retired at the age of 62.
In the course of Jacks life, he served on many committees and was a member of the Officers Club, VFW, Lions, Elks, and Moose. His favorite pastimes were golf, fishing, and hunting.
Jack was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Jean, his brother, Robert, who was killed in World War II, and his sister, Betsy Kaiser. He is survived by his sister, Peggy Cleis; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sharan and Michael Fischer, Pam Butler, Jackie and John Shahan, Donna Wilding, Jennifer and Ken Bowen, and a son, Robert; 8 grandchildren, Sue, David, Eddie, Shawn, J.T., Steven, Rose and Jackson; and 7 great grandchildren, John, Mary, Jordan, Tyler, Brianna, Leah and Nadalie.
The family would like to thank Becky Roessler and Fran Hrynyshen for their kindness in the familys time of need.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
