Jorge A. Velazquez, Sr. - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Jorge A. Velazquez, Sr.

March 28, 1942 - October 6, 2018

“‹Jorge A. Velazquez, Sr., age 76, of Palm Bay, Florida passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018.

“‹Born in Guayabota, Puerto Rico on March 28, 1942 he was the son of the late Santos Velazquez and Eustaquia (Valles) Velazquez. He worked as a landscaper for the State of New York and also owned his own trucking company.

Jorge was a husband, father, grandfather great-grandfather, and friend. He had a big heart and would do anything for anyone that asked. His love for nature, gardening, and small animals kept him outside most of the day. If you knew our father long enough you would be the recipient of a flowering plant or tree sappling from his garden. Our father believed that when it came to driving and shortcuts he knew them all. Although sometimes there would be unexpected detours. We love him and will miss him, but Georgie, Papi, Grandpa, Papa will be with all of us always and we will remember how he would look forward to the Christmas season and the family being together. How he would break out one of several guitars he owned and start trying to play…and he did try every year to the chagrin of his children — to play a traditional Puerto Rican holiday Aguinaldo. He did excel at making his recipe for Coquito (eggnog) and Pasteles. May God and the Angels guide and keep his spirit. He will be loved forever by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends!!

“‹Jorge is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nirma (Torres) Velazquez; his children Jorge Velazquez, Jr. of Canton, MA, Jeannie Castro (Martin) of Castleberry, FL, Norma Carrier (Jeff) of Bear, DE; six grandchildren, Alejandro Castro (Adrianna), Bianca Castro, Luis Castro, Kiara Carrier, Lorenzo Carrier and Reynaldo Carrier; and two great grandchildren, Elijah Castro and Leila Castro.

“‹A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
