Joseph Daniel Smith, Sr., age 55, of Laguna Niguel, CA and formerly of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2014, at his residence.

Danny was born in Bristol, TN on March 7, 1959. He attended Glasgow High School. Danny made his career with the Chrysler Corporation and worked at the company’s Newark, DE plant. He greatly enjoyed the comradery of his peers.

Danny was a fan of rock n’ roll music and enjoyed playing his guitar to his favorite songs, watching the Washington Redskins every Sunday, spending time with his family at the beach, and camping and fishing with his family. Danny loved the feel of the open road while riding his motorcycle, adored Sunday dinners around the table with his family and spending time with his father. He will be dearly missed by all.

Danny is survived by his father, Arthur J. Smith, and step mother, Kaye Smith of Newark, DE; mother, Sherian K. Liddle of Southern California; step father, P. Dave Liddle; sister, Crystal Duncan (Randale) of Bakersfield, CA; brother’s, David Smith (Alene) of Bakersfield CA. and P. Dave Liddle II of Bakersfield,CA; sons, Jeremy Smith of Shillington, PA., Christopher Smith (Katie) of Birdsboro, PA and Joseph Smith Jr. of Newark; and daughter, Hollie Cherie Smith of Newark. He is also survived by his step brother, Glen Miller of Newark; step sister, Tanya Wilson of Newark; 4 grandchildren; 5 nieces; 2 nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6pm until 8pm on Friday evening, August 1, 2014 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday morning, August 2, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE 19720.
