Joseph E. Reardon - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Joseph E. Reardon

August 2, 1940 - September 20, 2013

Mr. Joseph E. Reardon, 73, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013.

A native Delawarean, Joe was born August 2, 1940, the son of Joseph F. and Jean Marchlewski Reardon. A graduate of Salesianum class of 1958, Joe attended Pennsylvania Military College (currently Widener University), where he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Joe devoted his first 30+ years to aerospace and developed/managed/marketed solid propellant rocket motors for Thiokol. He spent many great years working with the military testing sea-launched ICBMs. After retiring from Thiokol he devoted his talents to the family advertising business, Remline Corp, as CFO where he joined his wife and daughter, and helped the company flourish with his talents and abilities.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sandra Marcozzi Reardon, son, Jeffrey S. Reardon (Laura), daughter, Stephanie Petrella (Tom), and grandchildren, Jordan, Jack and Shannon Reardon, and Anna Petrella, all of Newark.
Joe Reardon was devoted to his wife and family in every way. Joe was a man of great integrity. An Eagle Scout, a patriot, he always made you believe you could accomplish anything if you worked hard. He loved his family and would do anything to make them happy. He was generous to a fault and his motto was¦ do the right thing.
Joe had a genuine passion for technology and an understanding of how things worked and he loved to tinker. Joe understood the true meaning of loyalty and friendship and compassion for others. He was a strong, steady gentleman in every sense of the word and he truly cared about others.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday morning, September 26th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, with services following at 11 am.
