Joseph F. Marcin, age 89, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

Born in Essington, PA, on November 27, 1925, Joseph was the son of the late Frederick and Anna Marczysin. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army Air Corps. Joseph was the longtime owner of the Red Lion Inn located in Bear, DE.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, crabbing, boating and hunting. Joseph loved bowling, shooting pool and Old Milwaukee beer. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who adored spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Florence J. Sally (Kocinska) Marcin; sons, Mark Marcin (Lisa) of Bear, DE and David Marcin (Sharon) of Middletown, DE; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Thursday morning, March 19, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear, DE. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

  • Sorry to hear about Pop’s passing. He was a great friend, hunting buddy and crabbing partner. He was also a pretty fair barkeeper. My sincere condolences to family and friends. He will be missed!
