Joseph G. Speir

Born September 29, 1988

Joseph G. Joe Speir, age 26, of San Diego, CA and formerly of Newark, DE and Perryville, MD, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 23, 2014.

Born on September 29, 1988 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of Gordon D. Speir and Deanna M. (Orr) Speir.

Joe was a graduate of Sanford School (2006) and Wilmington University (2010), where he majored in Computer Network and Security.

Following graduation from college, Joe utilized his many computer skills working as a computer network and security technician for NetCentric/Vistronix and CSC Corporation, both in Aberdeen, MD, as a sales representative for Circuit City in Newark and most recently as a share point administrator for Jack In The Box in San Diego, CA. He loved his vocation and was highly regarded among his peers for his knowledge and dedication.

Although Joe’s life was short, he lived it to the fullest. He was well known for his sense of humor and was quite the prankster and jokester. He took great pride in his Mustang, loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed good food and traveling. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching and attending Flyers, Ravens and Orioles games and watching WWE. Joe will always be remembered as a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and dear friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfathers, Alan S. Speir and Thomas O’Hara; maternal great-grandfather, Nathan Orr; maternal great-grandparents, Frank and Clara Pascal, and his best friend, Michael D. Aulisa.

Joe leaves many fond memories to his loving parents, Gordon and Deanna of Elkton, MD; brother, Kenneth A. Speir of Newark; maternal grandparents, Donald A. and Ann Orr of Newark; maternal great-grandmother, Shirle Orr of Zephyr Hills, FL; paternal grandmother, Helen O’Hara of Newark; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and especially by his faithful canine companion, Boston Terrier, Mayzie.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday morning, December 6, 2014, at The Chapel of All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am. Entombment in the adjoining cemetery will be held privately.

    Please accept our dearest sympathy on the loss of your son. Although we did not know Joe, he was friends with our son Chris Minner. Chris told us how Joe and him met at Circuit City, and then how excited he was when he moved out to San Diego where Chris is now. He also told us how kind and generous he was and how Joe bought tickets to the Flyers game for Chris for his Birthday and they were to attend next week.
