Joseph G. Stanley

Joseph G. Stanley, formerly known as Joseph G. Paznokaitis, age 82, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2016.

Born in Chester, PA on May 1, 1934, Joe was a graduate of St. James High School. He bravely served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and achieved the rank of Sergeant prior to his honorable discharge. Joe worked as a boiler maker at British Petroleum in Marcus Hook, PA for 15 years. He then accepted a position as a postal carrier with the United States Postal Service in Newark, retiring after many years of dedicated employment.

Joe achieved 41 years of continuous sobriety with the support of AA. He was a devoted husband, beloved father and adoring grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Anna (Marcocki) Paznokaitis and sister, Mary Vasil. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dorothy (Kaminski) Stanley; children, Kate Black (John Chuter) of York, PA, Diana Stanley of Newark, DE and Joey Stanley of Newark, DE; and grandchildren, Jyoti and Alex Tulsian.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, June 13, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home of Newark, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon. Interment will be held privately in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
