Joseph J. Deery, Jr.
Mr. Joseph J. Deery, Jr., age 43, of Bear, DE, died suddenly on Saturday, March 13, 2010. He was met in Heaven by his grandparents, aunt, and uncles. A native Delawarean, Joseph was born in Wilmington on June 6, 1966 and was a 1984 graduate of Glasgow High School. He made his career with Delmarva Power, where he was currently employed as a meter reader. Joseph was a talented league bowler and multi-state tournament bowler throughout his life and had the distinction of having bowled 7 perfect games of 300. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends, golfing, and fishing. Most of all, he will be remembered as a devoted family man who delighted in spending time with his children and, most especially, his beloved and precious grandson, Ethan, whom he adored. He is survived by his parents, Joseph J. Deery, Sr. and Ruth Bromwell Deery of Bear; his children, Jessica L. Deery, Courtney S. Deery, and David J. Farmer, all of Bear; his grandson, Ethan J. Galvin of Bear; aunts, uncles, cousins; his best friend for many years, Tommy Robinson, and many other good friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am.
