Joseph J. Peirce

Joseph J. Peirce, age 87, of New Castle, DE passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014.
Born in Carneys Point, NJ on December 28, 1926, Mr. Peirce was a son of the late James J. Peirce and Helena (MacDonald) Peirce. Drafted for service by the US Army, he bravely served his country during both WWII and the Korean War. Mr. Peirce would later enlist with the US Air Force, where he would enjoy an extensive career until his retirement at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In his leisure time, he liked playing both the banjo and piano. Mr. Peirce was happiest in the company of his beloved wife and family whom he adored. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Takiko (Kanamori) Peirce; sons, James J. Peirce of San Diego, CA and Mark L. Peirce of New Castle, DE; and 2 grandchildren, Gina and Daniel Peirce.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday afternoon, April 7, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
