Joseph R. Justison
Joseph R. Justison, age 89, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Christiana Hospital in Newark, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Justison was born in Wilmington, DE, on May 28, 1922, son of the late George and Elizabeth (Kind) Justison. In his earlier years he had worked as a typewriter repairman. Later he worked as a security guard at the Christiana Hospital where he retired after 21 years of service. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII under the command of the infamous General George Patton in the 35th Division, 3rd Army and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mr. Justison was a true family man and an avid sports fan, especially when it came to the Phillies. He enjoyed watching westerns on television and liked to travel with his wife to Lancaster and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Mr. Justison was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Rosemarie (Widzgowski) Justison, who died on May 19, 2010. He is survived by his sons, Paul Justison (Karen) of Oakland, CA and Kenny Justison of VA; daughters, Julie A. Phillips of Claymont, DE, Karen A. Rhodes of Rehoboth, DE, and Kathy M. Viscount (James) of Middletown, DE; nine grandchildren, Patrick, Katy, Elizabeth, Marcelle, Frazer, Jr., Greg, Amber, Aubree, and James; and two great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a viewing will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
