Judith A. Mitchell

Born:
Died: 1/15/2011

Mrs. Judith A. Judy Mitchell, age 55, of New Castle, DE, was able to come home to be in peace with her family. Sadly, she passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011. Born in Darby, PA, on July 27, 1955, Judy was a graduate of Sun Valley High School in Aston, PA. She was a human resource manager retiring from ICI Americas/Uniqema after 34 years of service. Judy was currently employed as a consultant for CRODA. Her professional affiliations included the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). A devoted wife and mother, Judy was an excellent cook who delighted in preparing wonderful meals for her family and made the absolute best pumpkin pie. She greatly enjoyed spending time paddling around the little blue boat at her parents summer home in Chestertown, where she caught crab upon crab. Judy also enjoyed planting and tending the garden around her home, going bowling with friends, and cheering for her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. Admired always for her warm, friendly style and gentle nature, Judy took great pleasure in helping anyone in need. She particularly loved caring for her pet cats, as well as rescuing and nursing the many strays that seemed to find her home. Despite her long battle with cancer, Judy was upbeat, even during the roughest of times. She was a devout Catholic throughout her life and a longtime member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles A. Mullin. She is survived by her beloved husband, William J. Jack Mitchell, Jr., sons, William J. Jack Mitchell III and Michael G. Mikey Mitchell, both of New Castle; mother, Clare A. Mullin of Bear; brother, James Mullin of Middletown; sisters, Kathleen Tridente (Joe) of Middletown and Theresa Raymond (Rick) of Newark; aunt, Doris McHugh; uncle, Charles Youngflesh; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, January 20th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Friday, January 21st, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Flowers will be appreciated or contributions may be made to the Rena Rowan Cancer Center, University of Pennsylvania, 3400 Civic Center Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19104.
