Junior D. Meadows
Mr. Junior D. Meadows, known fondly as Curly, age 84, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Union Hospital.
Born in Welch, WV, on February 18, 1927, Mr. Meadows proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He would go on to make his career with the Witco Chemical Corporation in the shipping and receiving department, where he retired after 40 years of service.
An avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life, Mr. Meadows also enjoyed traveling, watching classic westerns, and taking trips to Atlantic City and Delaware Park. He was a devoted family man above all else and delighted in visiting his family across the United States and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Jo Meadows; son, Jerry D. Meadows (Becky) of New Castle; sisters, Mary Levene of Michigan, Nola Williams and Ola Hall, both of Ohio, and Neida Morrison of Missouri; grandchildren, Stephanie Wierzbicki (DJ), Sean Meadows (Leann), and Nicholas Meadows (Brenda); and great grandchildren, Tyler, Kayla, Noah, Breanna, Nicholas, Nathan, Gillian, Samantha, and Kelsey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominick Meadows and Pearl Tate, stepfather, Isaac Tate, brothers, J.P. Meadows and Tony Meadows, sister, Freida Hammit, mother- and father-in-law, Elda and John Justice, and great granddaughter, Elizabeth Wierzbicki.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 22nd, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
