Justin E. Prentice
Justin E. Prentice, known affectionately as Justy, age 21, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011.
Born in Newark on April 18, 1990, Justin was raised in New Castle, where he was a member of (former) Boy Scout Troop 72 and was very proud to have achieved the rank of Star. He was currently a student at James H. Groves Adult High School.
A lifelong fan of punk rock, Justin enjoyed attending music concerts. With his devoted mother, Norma, he also shared a deep admiration for the music of Pink Floyd and counted among his happiest memories the many times they listened to their favorite band together or went to live shows.
Justin greatly enjoyed skateboarding and spending time with his many good friends. Well known also as an avid walker, he could often be found hiking all over New Castle. More than anything else, he delighted in spending time with his family and was always excited to go on family vacations.
Justin is survived by his mother and his stepfather, Norma J. and William F. McKelvey, Sr. of New Castle; siblings, Amy M. Prentice of New Castle, Michael J. Prentice, Jr. (Nikki) of New Castle, William McKelvey, Jr. of Washington D.C., and James McKelvey of Delaware City; maternal grandmother, Helen Estep of New Castle; nieces, Alysia and Maddisyn; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael J. Prentice, Sr.; maternal grandfather, Edward Estep; paternal grandparents, Joann M. and Frank S. Prentice; and uncles, Stephen G. Prentice and Frank W. Prentice, Sr.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Glebe Cemetery, New Castle.
