Mr. Kevin Callahan, age 54, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Heartland Hospice House.
Born in Pennsylvania on November 6, 1957, Kevin was the son of the late Walter J. Callahan, Jr. and Eleanor ONeill Callahan. Music was the passion of his life and he made his career as a technical advisor for Overture Music on Concord Pike in Wilmington. He also delighted in playing the trumpet with the Newark Community Band for many years. Beyond his talent for music, he had a great love of cooking, eating, and sharing.
Kevin was a true friend to many and had a special gift for making people laugh. He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Carla A. Ungerbuehler Callahan; son, Conner Q. Callahan; and sister, Karen M. Callahan Shanks and her husband, Warren, of Newark.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 9, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, where visitation will begin at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Kevin may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
