Laura Ann Harding
On the evening of October 12, 2010, our beautiful mother, grandmother, and loving, caring wife, Laura Ann Harding suddenly was reunited with her Creator, yet painfully taken from us.
Laura Ann was the devoted wife of 55 years to her true love and admired husband, Reese Hubbard Harding, Sr., who loves her deeply. She was the most giving mother to her children: Julia Faye Harding of The Mary Campbell Center in Wilmington; Reese Hubbard Harding, Jr., of Santa Clara, CA; Deborah Renee Chance and her husband Richard of Newark; and Cynthia Ann Marshall and her husband Nathan of Wilmington. She had five grandchildren whom she loved deeply: Valene Renee Chance, Alexa Rae Chance, Viviana Ann Marshall, Josita Joy Marshall, and Weston Harding Marshall. She was one of nine children and is survived by her brother, C. Reginald Murphy and his wife Phyllis of Cambridge, MD.
Laura Ann was born on October 26, 1936 to Cecil Irene Jones Murphy and John Orem McDonnel Murphy in Cambridge, MD. She graduated from Cambridge High School where she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart. After getting married, she and Reese lived two years in Fairfield, CA, near Travis Air Force Base. They relocated closer to home and eventually planted roots in New Castle. Here, Laura Ann has enjoyed her life as a devoted stay-at-home mother, active in her childrens schools, and their lives. She was also active with The Mary Campbell Center and her civic association, where she used her gifts of hospitality and nurture to serve others, and in the church, where she prayed fervently for those hurting or in need. She especially enjoyed cruises with her husband Reese.
The family requests the support of your prayers and your presence during our time of earthly loss as we trust in the good Lords provision for us and promise of Laura Anns complete perfection as one of His children since her childhood. A visitation is planned for 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 17 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Highway, New Castle. Her memorial service will be Monday, October 18 at 11:00 am at Free Will Baptist Church, 409 Moores Lane, New Castle, where we hope you will come alongside us.
