Laureen J. St. Amand
Ms. Laureen J. St. Amand, known fondly as Laurie, age 66, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011.
Born in Youngstown, OH, on June 30, 1945, Laurie was the daughter of the late William Lindsay and Mona Belle Weeks Lindsay. She received her associates degree in office management from Delaware Technical and Community College and made her career as an administrative assistant, working in the purchasing and athletic departments of the University of Delaware for 20 years before her retirement. She had also owned and operated her own cake decorating company, Cakes by Laurie.
Laurie was a well-respected breeder of champion Persian cats, and, among her professional affiliations, was a longtime member of the Cat Fanciers Association. In earlier years, she also generously volunteered her time as a Girl Scout leader.
In her leisure hours, Laurie greatly enjoyed baking and flower gardening. She was a very creative person throughout her life and excelled in a variety of interesting crafts.
In addition to her parents, Laurie was preceded in death by her son, Scott L. Saint St. Amand, and son-in-law, Vincent Monterosso. She is survived by her daughter, Juliette L. Monterosso (David Palagruto) of Elkton, MD; brother, Donald B. Lindsay, Sr. of Bear, DE; grandchildren, Rosanna, Vincent, Frank, and Domenique; and great grandson, Devin.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Laurie may be made to Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
